Oct 01, 2011 00:22

Hi, folks. We've got several orders of business, but the first (and, of course, most important) is this week's theme announcement.

As we do whenever there are five Fridays in a month, we invite everyone to look at our Master List of Themes. hpthemes only works when our themes are up-to-date, which means that yes, old themes need to be updated ( Read more... )

Diigo account is here: http://www.diigo.com/user/hpthemes

It allows for multiple tags search, but sadly, not tag bundles. There is auto-complete, so if you type "pairing:" some choices appear below; same with "theme:" and "subtheme:" etc.

I really loved old delicious tag organization, and no other bookmarking service seems to have it as good. (And now delicious doesn't either.)

Hope you'll still be able to find what you want to read easily enough.

Please give us some feedback about the ease of using Diigo, so we can decide whether to keep using it.

I use Diigo for my master list of fics to rec and have been pretty happy with it, despite a few quirks.

I'm not sure how tag bundles worked in Delicious, but you could use the Diigo feature that allows you to make separate lists withing your library to group things however you like. (There is also a group feature, but I find it's not especially user-friendly.) For example, you might want to create a list for each theme. Users could then either search within specific lists for tags, or search the whole library.

Hmmm...thanks for pointing that feature out...I went and tried to figure it out, and as far as I can tell, it collects bookmarks as opposed to tags. What I liked about Tag Bundles was that you could go for example into the bundle called "theme:Potions" and find all subthemes we used for that theme, such as "subtheme:potion-Wolfsbane" and "subtheme:potion-LovePotion" and "subtheme:potion-Polyjuice" etc. So if you were particularly looking for stories that involve love potions, then you could get to them directly in that way. It also made it easier for us to find which subthemes we already used when adding new recs on old themes, so that we don't create duplicate tags that mean the same thing (like "love potion" and "amortentia" and similar". But otherwise, diigo does look pretty neat...I think I would want to keep it even if delicious is to go back to the way it was...

I see what you mean. No, it isn't the same, certainly, but you can achieve something similar using lists and tags. I think Diigo isn't as intuitive for the reader as Delicious was, so it will be interesting to see if people like it or not.

I use it for my rec list mainly because it's the tool I use for my other writing, in which I frequently need to annotate and sometimes share notes on articles. I'm awfully glad now that I didn't use Delicious, as the buyout has certainly fouled a lot of things up for a lot of people.
