Do you melt?
Snape still heard the taunt, tinged with genuine fear near the end, every time he had to go out in the rain. Of course he didn't melt. There was nothing he could say to his annoyingly innocent cousin. Even now, he couldn't bring himself to say that in the summer, on the rare hot days, the warmed drops felt too much like someone else's cooling blood, dripping down from the ceiling.
The River Calder was one of the boy's favourite places to escape to during the summer weeks when he was forced to leave the comfort and safety of Scotland. His impression hadn't been wrong. Ginny--she'd insisted, with sneaky, clever threats that he actually believed she'd follow through on--was patient. Mostly she was patient with the animals, although she could be with her coworkers, so long as they deserved it
