"Sirius never took me here," Regulus says, and Remus isn't sure what that is supposed to mean. Sirius has never taken Remus here, either, but since Sirius is their common denominator, there has to be something significant about his absence for Regulus to have chosen this meeting place. Remus will not ask for an explanation.
Reykjavik is full of crowds and lights and people drinking and singing in the streets until morning, when they get their coffee and their breakfast together and go on with their day. Remus thinks that no one sleeps, at least not in the summer while the sun is up for twenty-two hours a day. He imagines the whole country asleep in January when everything is dark all day long.
Regulus slides a stack of letters tied with a green ribbon across the table. Remus reaches for them and their fingers brush. Remus thinks of how very much Regulus looks like Sirius.
"I'm going to die next week," Regulus says.
"Yes," Remus says, and absently takes a sip of his Brennivin. "Well, are you really surprised?"

The note is tied with ribbon. Green ribbon. Slytherin green. If it were from Sirius it wouldn't even be rolled, let alone neatly tied up. Remus sometimes wonders how two people who are so vastly different can even be related, let alone be brothers. Remus tugs the ribbon loose and unrolls the parchment. It bears three words.
This evening. Eight.
*Remus can't say why he ties his hair in the ribbon before he leaves. Maybe it's because he likes the way Regulus' fingers feel on the back of his neck. Maybe it's because Remus likes Slytherin green. Maybe it's because Regulus likes Slytherin green on Remus
