This fic is absolutely amazing. I was riveted from start to finish; beautiful, powerful, and so painfully sad. I loved it.

Genius. I was especially taken with the flow of emotions from scene to scene with Ginny's physical climax followed by her mental climax in battle.

"Don't die." First rule of combat.

One possible typo: "kick men while they're down to make sure they're alive." Shouldn't that be _not_ alive?

'Don't die' way predates Buffy. I heard it in Viet Nam. My grandfather told me he heard it in WWI and got it from vets who heard it in the Spanish-American War. It was probably one of the first rules ever codified for combat.

God, I'd forgotten how much I love your writing. This is a powerful story hauntingly told, filled with beautiful angst and fabulous imagery. The way you word things is just breathtaking. *sigh*

By the way, where do you post your fics other than LJ? I'd like to read more of them. :-)

Wow, thanks so much! As for other fics, most of them are on my LJ...its the most comprehensive list, I feel. Check my mems, and most recent entries. Other than that, I have really old and horrible fics from almost five years ago on ff.net under biggrstaffbunch or biggerstaffbunch, and on Checkmated as well. Look em up!

Wow. I like how gritty and real this is, and the way Ginny chooses deliberately at the end to not just take what she can get, but to make her life about HER. Well done.
