June-July Drabble-a-thon

“Uncle Percy, why does Uncle George have to joke all the time?” Rose pouted.
“Because his mind is dull, Rose,” Percy said in a teasing tone.
“Mummy says I should ignore him.”
“No, that won’t work. You’ll have to outsmart him.”
Rose thought over his suggestion, but finally shook her head in defeat. “I don‘t know how to.”
“The simplest pranks are the best. Do we have any eggs?” Percy asked as he stood up from his chair.
Rose nodded.
The look of surprise on Uncle George‘s face when she and Uncle Percy pelted him with eggs was never forgotten.

“Okay. Uncle Percy. Rose said I should talk to you.”
“What’s on your mind, Scorpius?”
“How did you reconcile with your family? My father hasn’t spoken to me since the wedding. He answers my owls, but only with formal, stilted replies. I miss him.”
“I was horrible to my family, Scorpius, and they forgave me and welcomed me back when I apologized. I know your new family is difficult for your father to accept, but you have done nothing wrong. Hopefully he’ll have a change of heart.”

Percy looked at three-year old Molly. She stood at the edge of his desk; his old glasses perched on her nose, parchment in hand. She licked the quill, dipping it into the ink. He smiled.
"What can I do for you?"
"Lucy's sleeping. I don't want to wake her, but I do."
"Oh."
"Which is right - waking or not waking?"
"Not waking."
"Okay." She scribbled on the parchment.
"What's that Molls?"
"Big Sister Book. When I do Big Sister things, I write it here. Then, I'll be the best one ever."
Percy hugged her. "You're already the best big sister."
