For Someone More Worldly Than I

Could someone help a poor girl who took Spanish all through school and tell me the correct way to pronounce  "Victoire?"  It's bugging me that I can't say it in my head...

Thanks in advance, francophiles!

discussion, victoire

Vick-TWAH, I believe. (Though I took Spanish all through high school, too.)

It would have a soft french r on the end, I believe, because there is an "e" after it. IIRC from HS French.

I pronounce it somewhat like "vick-TWAr." Emphasis on the TWA, with a tiny soft r at the end.

Yeah, I took French for two years and the name still confuses me. XD; But, I agree with raynala above. A very, very subtle "r" on the end.

oh, bless you for asking this. I've been trying everything from vick-tor, vick-tor-ee, vick-toe-ear (my favorite, by far), and vick-toe-ear-ee

Yikes!
