(*sigh* I had the longest comment written, and then it went and gave me an error, so this one will be less stellar)

Well, we don't get to see this POV very often, and I'll admit I enjoyed it! You've changed Narcissa from this character who canon practically forgets into a very real, very human character who is very easy to relate to, and in my opinion, that marks good writing. Your card interpretations fit very well with the plot, and it was a joy to read. Nice entry!

This was a clever interpretation of the cards, and an interesting exploration of a much-neglected time period. I do like the way your take on the characters fits canon (and explains the very different personalities of the Black sisters).

And the way so much of the background and conversation is implied, leaving the reader to work it out. Lovely work.

Lovely story! I snorted out loud at the "love pentagon," I must say. Overall the language flows so nicely. I particularly loved sentences like "She would have been very put out by the lack of good company at parties, but Cygnus announced that they would depart early for their holiday in France, mercifully removing his daughters from the warm weather social circuit that was so heavy on floral dresses and chatter over lemonade."

And what's not to love about Bellatrix and Lucius hexing one another bloody? :-)

But it's a lovely characterisation of Narcissa, a character that we really never learn much of in the canon. Very nice!
