Thank you! The Emperor is a sun card, so the colors are meant to reflect that, while still feeling earthy. I don't do things this detailed very often, so glad you like it!
I love the soft colouring and all the details - the head of the cane with its glowing eye and visible fang, the way the Mark turned out, and that Death Eater to the right looks really devious too. ♥
From the soft multi-hued golds to the facial expressions of the Malfoys, to the eerily symmetric circle of Death Eaters...
I realise I am being irrational, but where is the rest of this deck? I so want to see them :)
(I would love to read the artist's own words on how she interpreted her card, what her inspirations were, etc. Would this be possible for future art posts?)
Thank you! The Malfoys are usually drawn in Slytherin colors, but I really like them in golds. Plus, it's fitting for the card.
That's how I was interpretting the card, at the top. Also, it's the sun card, hence the colors. And, traditionally, I think the emperor is supposed to be on a throne, but Lucius' place of power is in the center of the Death Eaters. And Draco, of course, is the closest thing he has to a weakness. :)
*blushes* I'm really sorry about the lame timing. (I'd temporarily switched LJ comment notifications to another email account.... and kept on checking the old one.)
Thank you for the additional details. With art, it's so interesting to hear what the artist's thought processes were, and gosh, I still want the whole deck :)
Actually, the art came first. I wrote the story afterward. The first thing I saw was a sketch and I stared at it for a while thinking, what the heck is going on here? Then it suddenly clicked, oh, Draco's naked and he's begging. Hmmm. A little confirmation from Pink combined with the Interpretation and the story wrote itself.
Thanks! I like the way their faces came out, especially considering that most of the time, I do more cartoonish stuff. Draco actually had like 6 noses before I got one I liked, lol.
