That was a charming story - I loved the way you had Gran as a sharp and sometimes rather sad old lady, while at the same time giving her real character and making her likeable - something rare and precious in fanfic.

And I had a positive lump in my throat at the bubble gum wrappers!

Thanks! I really liked the little bits of Gran we saw in canon, and I had fun sort of fleshing her out here.

I really like your portrayal of Augusta here. I enjoyed getting to see the layers and the caring underneath the gruff exterior. I also liked how you captured Neville, with his awkward balance of tentativeness and assuredness.

Lovely all around!

I really enjoyed this. I enjoyed your characterization of Augusta and would echo all the comments above, and also thought you handled young Neville brilliantly.

What a lovely story. All we see of Augusta in canon is the strict old lady. This is a terrific at the whole person - there's some typical Gran lines:

"They won't even know the difference," he said.

"Don't pout," Gran said, standing. "It's unattractive.

but also the softer side, for example in the first line lyras points out above. There's a lot in this story. I'm know I'm going to read it more than once.

Thanks! I really like Augusta, so it was fun to write her as more than just the woman Neville's strict Gran.

*sniff* Beautiful Neville fic! I love how you eased us into the story with Neville dreading his visits to St Mungo's (because what young boy wouldn't hate having to see parents like those?). Gran was excellent, I could see how much she missed Frank and Alice, too, but got that feeling that having Neville there was her raison d'être after their torture. I love the references to what's going on in the wizarding world at the time - Neville seeing Tonks outside and being afraid of Metamorphmagus ghosts. And the meaning of the Droobles wrappers was utter brilliance.

Thank you! (And oh, the Droobles wrappers--I mean, they have to mean something, right? They just have to!)
