This is utterly fantastic!
I usually find the idea of Snape paired up at this point in his life discordant with his character and circumstances. But you did pair him with THE witch after all and not a vanilla student of his ....... So I gave this a go. Well, from the first paragraph, I felt that this is the Severus that I know. I was intrigued to learn that they had a PAST! But then, don't we all wonder about all of the secrets Snape has buttoned up inside?
Then ....... OMG! The tension! The wondering! The climax! EEEEEEEeeeeeeeeee!!!

Ha, yes -- a terrible time for Severus to decide to be trusting! So often men in that particular, um, situation seem to forget just how much power they're giving their mouthy partners. Both characters are nicely in-character. Love SS's line, "do come in."
