Lucius was roused from his sleep, and none too happy about it. He glared around to find who has disturbed him, but when he saw it was Millicent, his sneer softened. She was the daughter Narcissa could never provide for him and she was his ticket back into the world of the living. Back into power.

"Very good, child. Very good indeed," he said, smirking. "Those traitors won't know what hit them once your task is complete. Congratulations on your position. I would say we should share a drink, but in my current condition, consumption isn't quite an option."

"I hope to remedy that soon, my lord," she replied with a nod of her head. "The research is going very well, but I'll be unable to stay here much longer. Your son, it seems is back from his first Quidditch tour...or that's the rumor."

The sneer returned at the mention of his son. "Well, isn't that wonderful?" he asked, sarcastically. "My son, the one who has let his family's home fall in shame is home from his grand tour. If I wasn't a portrait, I might just leap for joy."

"Perhaps he won't stay long, dear child," he said to Millicent. "It is a shame this damned frame is charmed to remain within the confines of this manor, isn't it?"

"Yes," she replied with a sneer of her own. "Your house elves are very clever...or your son has given them orders to place a non-removable charm on it. I've tried to remove it with no luck, my lord."

"But we shall see what he's made of when you make your triumphant return to us. I'm sure you'll give him a warm welcome should he ever return to the manor."
