Open: Tonks visits Diagon Alley

Tonks took her time walking down the alley. It was, after all, the weekend and she had nothing better to do. She was glad for the day off and she had forgone the usual pink color of her hair so she could easily blend into the crowd. She just wanted to lose herself in the day and watch everyone as they went along their way to do their weekend chores

Having a day off in what seemed like forever to Hermione was the best thing she could have asked for. Slipping into a pale green sun dress and her white robes, Hermione set off for a relaxing day of doing whatever she wanted.

Stepping out into the sunlight, Hermione put one hand over her eyes briefly to block out the harsh light. Taking another step forward, she bumped into someone. Blinking twice, Hermione gasped. "Oh, I'm so sorry! I wasn't paying any attention where I was going."

Tonks reached out, trying to steady herself and the girl who'd run into her. She slipped slightly, but managed to catch herself again.

"It's all right," she said, looking into the girl's face.

"Hermione? Hermione Granger?" she asked, a smile crossing her face as she recognized the girl in front of her, who was really, no longer a girl.

Hermione nodded, taking note that the person who she bumped into knew her.

"Yes... Tonks?!" Hermione asked, eyes wide when she realized who it was.

"'Tis I," she said with a grin, giving Hermione a hug. "It's been a long time. How are you?"

Arm-in-arm, the pair walked down the busy street toward the Leaky Cauldron. Hermione found herself sneaking quick glances at Tonks as they walked.

"After you," Hermione said, reaching for the door knob; pulling it open for her companion.

Tonks walked in first, letting Hermione's arm go. She tripped slightly, but managed to right herself quickly. Jeez. She needed to stop being so clumsy. Especially around people she liked.

She led the way into the darkened bar, taking a seat at the closest table.

"So, have you seen Harry or anyone lately?"

"I saw Harry a couple days ago actually. He stopped by my office and we had a chat, catching up a bit. Other than, the only person I've seen is Ginny. She made dinner the other night and invited me over." Hermione said, settling into the chair across from Tonks.

"Are they doing well?" she asked. "As of last I heard they were engaged, right?"

"That is exactly why I'm not fit for doing what you do." Hermione said softly.

[auror_nymph]

"You're smart, Hermione," she replied. "I'm sure you wouldn't make those kinds of errors."

[brainy_witch]

"It's all book smarts, but thank you," Hermione blushed, her cheeks turning a pretty shade of pink.

"Any time," she replied, giving her a grin. "Even with book smarts, I'm sure you know enough to make decisions."

"Maybe we could do that together?" Hermione asked, wanting to spend more time with Tonks. She was always a pretty fun person to be around.

"If you want," she replied, trying not to sound as excited as she felt about it.

[brainy_witch]

"Sure. It'll be more fun that way." Hermione smiled brightly.

Tonks beamed in return to Hermione's brilliant smile. "Have you been in to see Lavender? I'm sure I could use some new robes for work. I've been wearing Muggle clothes for weeks."

"You always seem well put together," Hermione said casually as they continued their walk down the road.

[auror_nymph]

"It might seem that way, but really, I'm not," she replied with a sad smile. "Especially after Remus and I parted, though it was on good terms."

[brainy_witch]

"Oh, I had no idea. I'm so sorry to hear that." Hermione said, a slight frown on her face.

[auror_nymph]

"Don't be," Tonks replied with a wave of her hand. "It happened two years ago when I decided to take a long break from the Ministry."
