Remus was looking forward to their evening out. They needed some sort of normalcy and going out to dinner with the family was the perfect solution. Despite everything that was going on they were together and they needed to celebrate that.

Take one day at a time, count your blessings. That was all he was concentrating on because, if he didn't, he shuddered to think what the darkness that had been growing inside of him would make him do and think.

Once he saw the patronus, which still made him smile a little and caused his cheeks to redden just slightly, he headed downstairs.

"Hello, Dora," he murmured as he slipped his arms from behind her, smiling. "You look lovely."

Tonks smiled and leaned her head back against him. "Right now? I feel lovely too! Hello, Remus." Then she turned over her shoulder to look up at him and smiled.

"Thank you."

Maisie had been in the middle of getting her hair braided by Andi when she first saw the patronus and she'd nearly hopped off the bed with her braid only half finished.

She stayed to get it finished though because it was a French braid and going out was special so she wanted to be pretty. She was even wearing the brand new dress Remus and Tonks gave her her first night in the house with them. It was pretty yellow and white and with her hair pink Maisie thought she looked a little bit like an Easter egg and it made her giggle.

She took off for the stairs the minute the ribbon was in her hair and came bouncing into the room.

"I'm here! I'm ready!"

"Well hello, Maisie-love!" Tonks bounded up to her feet and met her partway through the room and hugged her, then picked her up and carried her to the sofa for a cuddle till everybody was accounted for.

"Now look at you! You are beautiful! And the braid really looks wonderful in your hair!"

She leaned in and whispered. "Did my mum pull your hair a lot when she was doing it?"

Maisie giggled and cuddled in close. "You look beautiful too!" Touches her own braid. "I wanted to look grown up! Andi said she would be right down. She said she had to 'put on her face' which is silly cause I saw her! She's got a face!"

"It pulled some but I wriggled a lot!"

It felt amazing, really, how the little girl fit against her body. Comfortable, cozy, lovely. Right.

Thank you, love, for ridding us of that cur. Thank you. Because she was sure that Maisie's mother had felt it right too.

Tonks chased the thought away with a laugh. "Of course you wiggle when it pulls! I don't think my hair's been in a braid for years, except for work." Well, technically also in years, but not to her!

"Mum is beautiful, but when she 'puts on' her face? She's absolutely stunning. I think you're going to love it." Yeah, she felt a bit of a twinge that she usually went without much make-up these days - tonight being a slight exception, of course - but not too much. After all, she was supposed to stun people, not stun them with looks...

He'd just left Hugo in the room with Ron, a little company for him while he still recovered and it was Ron's night to read for him before he went to sleep. He couldn't help but feel tired running around and helping with the kids, but it was a good, no great thing to spend his time doing. He was helping in the best way he could. Helping the adults not worry about their kids while they did what they had to do.

Having cleaned himself up a little he changed into something a little smarter than his usual jeans and top and headed down into the room with the fireplace like the patronus had told him to.

Tonks looked up from the cuddle with Maisie and her eyes glowed up warm with affection and pride. So grown. So good. So wonderful.

"Good evening, love. You look great!" If a bit tired, but she thought they all were. And he looked a lot, lot better than he had in the infirmary.

Remus smiled at Teddy when he walked in, glad to see him there. They all really did need some time together.

"Thank you you, for joining us."

He smiled, running his fingers through his too long hair and walked over to give her a quick kiss on the cheek before finding a moment and sitting.

"Shhh," he said softly with a fond smile, "Do you hear that," there was nothing but the crackling of fire, "No one demanding pony rides."

"Sorry to keep you waiting loves." Andi came in with a smile. Oh yes, this, this was enough to ease a bit of the ache in her heart. The sight of her son and daughter and two grandchildren? Most wonderful sight ever.

"Mum? It's fine by me. And you look absolutely beautiful!" And she meant that! Both thats!

"Any objections to a muggle place for tonight? White tablecloths, wands hidden, people with gloves serving us...?"
