Oh this was really wonderful! I just adored James here, how much he clearly loved Teddy, his desire to travel and see the world, his struggle to come out to his dad.
Teddy here was also such a great character. His comfort in his own skin warring with his fear of letting himself settle down and love James. Fear of holding him back and fucking it up. God, their connection was gorgeous and so, so hot. Broke my heart with that bit of Teddy/Harry, but it felt so real, how he might think his love and adoration for Harry was something more.
James going off was so bittersweet. it was right, but I definitely felt that sting of separation. Though holy god was the goodbye sex hot!
And the ending. The ending was perfect. Both of them a little older, a little wiser. Finally ready for each other, ready to commit and stay and try to make things work.
Seriously beautiful work!
I also thought the background H/D was really well done and made me very happy! <3
Wow, such a multi-faceted story, it's got to be every author's dream to come up with something like this! :) There are wonderful, tender, yearning dreams, childhood ones and those of an adult, and heartbreak a plenty, as necessary as it is to let the boys become men; there's growing up and so many different sides of same love that it makes one think the characters have lived through an entire lifetime, not just a few years. And I guess they only needed time - and some distance - to let the true feelings mature and crystallise.
Very warm, very beautifully written story, not rushed, just the right kind of desperate at certain points - and the first person POV is all the magic in this; it's hard to imagine James's emotions could be portrayed better in any other form. Loved it! :)
Oh, boys. My heart. I'm not really sure where to begin--young James, Teddy's crush on Harry, Malfoy still being a prat. LOL Strangely, James lashing out at Harry was really one of my favorite things because it's so realistic--the irrational anger, the desire to hurt because you are hurt. As painful as it was seeing James leave to see the world, it made his return all the sweeter. Great job.
This was awesome! I loved it! I loved James's voice!! "It probably sounds ridiculous but it’s ours and that makes it perfect. Besides, don’t laugh at me when I’m nervous." Perfect! Thank you for writing such a perfect, heartbreakingly beautiful coming-of age story. I feel like I'm feeling what the characters are feeling - if this makes any sense. James voice, the pace of the story, some of the dialogues, everything's simple and intense. Wonderful.

You've woven such a tale of love...first love...and only love. And the Harry/Draco back story adds just the right touch of depth to James coming out.
The ending is so perfect for this...even though it's only been about 18 months, they're both so much older and ready for each other.
Really well done! ♥
