"Is that the Floo?"
"What?"
"Seriously, I just heard someone. Listen."
Just then, Albus heard his brother yelling. Without thinking, he pushed Hugo into the wardrobe and closed the door.
"We could just Apparate out," Hugo whispered.
Albus groaned. "You know we can't. One, he'll hear it, and two, Dad set the wards to track Apparations." He sighed and went to run his hand through his hair only to find he had no room to move his arm up in the cramped space. "We'll just wait until he leaves again."
"That could be tomorrow!" Hugo's voice rose and Albus hushed him.
"Maybe if you weren't so full of yourself, you wouldn't have run off both our dates!" Rose's voice was loud and full of anger and frustration. Albus could imagine her auburn curls bouncing as she laid into his brother for Merlin only knew what.
"She sounds right miffed," Hugo said, shifting a bit until he was pressed even closer to Albus.
Albus snorted. "I'd say she's more than miffed."
"Maybe if you weren't always going on about Quidditch and were more of a girl, you'd finally get shagged and stop being such a-"
A sharp slap ran through the flat, making Albus's cheek sting in sympathy. He'd been on the receiving end of one of those smacks before.
"James Sirius Potter. What is your problem? You've been a right arse for months now. You beg to be set up with my teammates, and then you dump them or ignore them."
"Full name. This isn't going to be pretty." Hugo's whisper tickled Albus ear, making him shudder.
"Well Rose better-than-thou Weasley, how do explain your date being the first to leave tonight. I don't see blokes lining up for a second date with you. And that's saying something, what with the losers you date. The guy tonight couldn't find his arse with a Location Spell."
Albus grimaced. It was completely true. Rose was bossy and aggressive, and most blokes were terrified by her. But James was definitely not one to talk. He hadn't had a serious girlfriend since his second year at Hogwarts. Not that they both didn't have their good points. Each was smart, athletic, funny, and generally caring and good-natured-just not to each other. Albus loved both Rose and James, but he could imagine the difficulties in trying to date one of them.
Why the two insisted on double dating and spending time together when all they did was argue, Albus would never understand. But there was this strange love-hate relationship between Rose and James. They competed for everything: grades, awards, and definitely, Quidditch. Now that both of them were playing for professional teams, the tension between them was such that no one wanted to be around them for more than a few minutes.
"At least I have dates without having to beg my cousin to set me up. You'd think playing Quidditch would mean you could pull birds." Rose's tone was vicious and biting. She had a way with words that was both a blessing and a curse depending on where you stood. "But wait," Rose continued, "you're just a glorified broom polisher with that pity reserve position. Guess it pays to have your dad a hero and your mum a Quidditch reporter. How many favourable stories do you think she had to offer the Tornados just to let you sniff around the locker room?"
"At least I play for a real team. How long has it been since the Cannons won? They just let you play because no one else wants to lose."
Albus shook his head. The Quidditch teams argument could go on for days. Hopefully, they'd stop before the argument over N.E.W.T.'s started. And Merlin forbid, they start in on how Rose got James in trouble when they were four and five.
Rose's shriek of anger sent chills down Albus's spine. "Oh please, you're just jealous that I'm a year younger and already a starter. You've been jealous of me since I learned to read before you. You just can't get over being beat by a girl."
"How long do you think they're going to fight?" Hugo whispered. "I'm tired of being cramped up in here."
Albus shrugged, knowing Hugo was close enough to feel the gesture. He and Hugo were the opposite of James and Rose. Their families were joined at the hip so it was more common to be together than apart. For Rose and James that meant eternal conflict; for Albus and Hugo, soul mates. They never fought and had been inseparable since Hugo could walk.
Now, they were just more inseparable, and that newfound togetherness had led them to James's supposed-to-be empty flat for some alone time. Instead, they were pressed together in a musty wardrobe listening to their siblings argue once again. Definitely not the way Albus had thought the evening would go.
Except, there wasn't anymore yelling. Albus couldn't hear anything coming from the sitting room. Hesitantly, he pushed open the wardrobe door only to see the one thing he'd never thought he would.
James was pressed against the wall in the short hallway, Rose plastered to him in the most enthusiastic snog Albus had ever seen. Even their snogging looked like fighting, and now that he knew what was happening, Albus could swear he heard breathy moans and gasps.
"What's going on?" Hugo whispered.
Albus shook his head, trying to clear the horrific image from his mind. "You don't want to know."
At that moment, a loud bang sounded against the bedroom door and Albus groaned quietly. It'd been too much to ask that they'd stay in the hallway or better yet, decide to stop and leave the flat altogether.
The sound of passionate kissing was unmistakable, and Hugo tensed beside Albus.
"No." Hugo's word was loud in the wardrobe and Albus manoeuvred around in the tight space to put an arm around him and draw Hugo his chest.
"Yes," Albus whispered.
"But they hate each other and they're cousins." Hugo kept his voice barely audible, but Albus could hear the confusion and disbelief in his hushed tone.
"Um, Hugo, we're cousins."
"We're different, but in a way that's even worse. Now our siblings are going to shag. So my sister and I will be dating brothers who are our cousins. It's like some bad porn or one of those Muggle soap operas. I can't take it." Hugo pushed past Albus and reached for the wardrobe door.
Albus stopped him. "You can't."
"She's my sister. I can't stay in here while she is having sex." Hugo's voice was too loud again, so Albus did the only thing he could think of to both quiet Hugo and keep him inside the wardrobe: kiss him.
Hugo relaxed into the kiss at first then realising what Albus was doing, pulled back. "Don't distract me."
"If you don't stop making so much noise, they're going to hear us."
"Good, then they'll stop this craziness."
Albus sighed. "Hugo, do you really want to explain to James why we're in his wardrobe?"
A loud groan kept Hugo from responding, and they both listened for a few moments as James and Rose become more vocal, obviously having broken apart from each other's mouth.
"I hate you," Rose said. "So very much."
"I hate you, too." James's voice was heavy with lust and want, and Albus hated being able to recognise the sound.
The next thing they heard was the bed creaking and the headboard slamming against the wall.
"I can't believe they're doing this." Hugo buried his head against Albus's shoulder, and Albus lowered his head onto Hugo's.
Albus thought about just Apparating them out, wards or no, but he couldn't bring himself to risk being caught. They'd finish eventually.
The bed was still creaking, interrupted only by loud moans and swears. Disgusted as he was by the idea of James and Rose having sex, Albus couldn't deny the effect that the proximity of Hugo combined by the tell-tale noises was having on him.
Without thinking, Albus pulled Hugo even closer, rubbing against him.
"What are you doing?" Hugo asked in a scandalised tone.
Albus shrugged and thrust his hips against Hugo's. "Nothing better to do."
Hugo struggled to get away, but the tight quarters kept him pressed against Albus. "We can't. Not while they're…"
Albus leaned closer and licked a path up Hugo's neck and around his ear. Albus knew it was a cheap move, but Hugo melted against him. Albus took the opportunity to kiss Hugo, pouring out his frustration with the situation into a much more productive activity.
Hugo's return kiss was full of teeth and tongue, pushing Albus back against the wardrobe door with a thud. They broke apart with a start and stared at each other, barely breathing as they worried about being discovered.
There was only moaning and cursing coming from the bedroom and Albus relaxed against the door and pulled Hugo back into him.
"No!"
Albus ignored Hugo's protest and kissed along his jaw, nipping gently in the way he knew drove Hugo crazy. This time, though, Hugo was not so easily swayed. Instead of giving in, Hugo pushed Albus away as best he could.
"Seriously, it's messed up."
"What is?"
Hugo gave an exasperated sigh and attempted to wave his arms about. "Us doing stuff while they're in there doing Merlin knows what."
"Come on," Albus said, giving his most pathetic whisper. "We're stuck in here, and this way we don't have to focus on what's going on out there."
"It's too weird."
Albus manoeuvred his leg until he could rub against Hugo's groin. Hugo was not completely hard, but Albus knew it wouldn't take much to push Hugo the rest of the way. "You like weird and kinky. And this is definitely a bit kinky."
Hugo snorted loud enough to give them away if James and Rose were paying attention, but based on the increasingly loud sounds coming from outside the wardrobe, they were safe.
There wasn't any resistance when Albus leaned in to kiss Hugo this time, and they fell together in the rhythm that made Albus's heart race and breath quicken every time. It was the way they fit together, bodies made to be pressed to each other. The few people Albus dated before Hugo were awkward and wrong with bumping noses and height issues and just not Hugo.
Each kiss brought them closer together and Albus worked his hand between them, struggling to push aside their work robes. His hand was bent backwards as he freed Hugo's erection. Hugo gasped as Albus's hand closed around him, stroking fast and hard.
With a little more adjusting, Albus was able to free his own cock and was able to press their erections together. It was sloppy as they pushed together, still kissing and touching as Albus's hand moved between them. Hugo's kisses grew more frantic, and Albus could feel Hugo tense as his orgasm approached. With a soft moan, Hugo came over Albus's hand and cock.
Hugo's hand joined Albus's, bringing Albus to the edge. Albus could feel every nerve in his body tingling as the sensations rushed through him then finally released.
Albus must've jolted when he orgasmed, because the next thing he knew, he was lying flat on his back on the floor, Hugo sprawled inelegantly above him.
It took a moment for Albus's eyes to adjust to the brightness of the room, but when he could see, he wished he'd been struck blind.
Rose was naked on top of James, and both of them were staring at Albus and Hugo in horror.
"Don't mind us," Albus said, struggling to his feet and dragging Hugo up with him. "We'll just be going."
They made it out of the bedroom before the screaming started.
"Albus Severus Potter, what are you doing here?" Rose's voice echoed down the hallway.
"You sound like a demented mother when you use middle names," James said.
Albus heard the slap just as he and Hugo ran out of the flat. Collapsing against the door to catch his breath, Albus looked at Hugo and grinned.
"We have to get our own place," Hugo said breathlessly as he leaned against Albus.
Albus nodded and pressed a kiss to Hugo's forehead. "We'll start looking tomorrow if they don't kill us first."
Hugo nodded to the flat, which was filled with James and Rose's argument and interspersed with equally loud moans. "I think it'll be a while before they come out."
"We could go back into the sitting room," Albus said, grinning.
Hugo punched Albus in the arm, and Albus cried out.
"You Weasleys are a violent lot."
"Yeah, and apparently you Potters love us for it."
