Fantastic. This really rung true as Minerva's voice, as a real person behind the starched facade. I love the way you took us through so much time, but always came back to the same idea. And I love the quiet tone and feel to this. It's gorgeous.

Am commenting late, so this is probably going to look like one of those comments you ranted about on your LJ recently, but I promise it isn't :). I missed this while I was on hiatus in June, so I'm glad the masterlist was finally updated!

I love the way you tie the two CoS events together in the narrative, and I really like all the details you add to the 1943 (?) era. The Tom/Minerva hints appealed to my inner shipper, and were much appreciated! And using Molly as a foil for Ginny works very well. I loved the last scene, too - Minerva and Dumbledore are perfect, with Minerva wanting to hit Dumbledore for being smug.

Oh, wow, someone recced this community to me awhile back, but I only now had a chance to check out some of the fics. This is really moving. Minerva is so believable with all her questions and reservations. Things are going on just beyond her awareness, where she can sense them but is oh, so helpless to change anything. I really like the sense of detachment mixed with a hunger for connection.
