This is a nice little series of meditations. There's not enough fic about the Patil twins, or maybe I just need to look harder. I enjoyed the backstory you've imagined for them.

the fact that Parvati is clever and she is only nice.

This is a lovely touch, given that Padma is the one sorted into Ravenclaw.

his is the sort of rain that takes away even the idea of the world's ever having been dry

The childish viewpoint is beautifully done in this story, and I really like the way you bring it up to the (wizarding) present day. Lovely!
