Oh, my. This is wonderful - thank you so much for this. The foreshadowing was absolutely brilliant at the end - marking them for death as you put it.

I was a little bit thrown by your writing in present tense, but after the first few lines, it really grew on me. I thought the charasterisation was wonderful - especially of Minerva. I thought the line about the students scurrying out of her way was incredibly apt.

Thank you - I've wanted to see this for some time and have never had the time to write it myself. You've written a story that's everything I imagined it would be and more...

This is a very thoughtful story. I like how much meaning and symbolism you've put into the geese, and also the subtle signs of McGonagall's fondness for Sirius (I always enjoy good interaction between those two).

This is beautiful. I loved your McGonagall, stern and strict but so thoughtful, so full of care for the boys, and I loved your gentle portrayal of Remus's despair and Sirius's contrition. Snape, too, is done with such a light touch, but from the little you give us of him his motivations and anger are really palpable. The writing is so quiet and so textured that the omens and the darkness are much more effectively shown than they would be if you'd been heavy-handed about it. I really loved this story.

One tiny criticism - McGonagall and Pomfrey probably would use "got" for "gotten" in spoken dialogue.

Thanks! I really appreciate your kind words, and I'm so glad that you liked this story.

Why "got" and not "gotten"? I'm just curious ... I thought "gotten" was correct. :)

Because "gotten" is rarely, if at all, used in British spoken English. "Got" is used for the participle too.

This is darker than I usually like my MWPP fic, but quite lovely -- I love what you're doing with the transfigurations.

Thanks! I'm so glad you liked it - it was a challenge to keep it from getting too terribly angsty and depressing, so I'm glad you didn't think it was entirely too dark. :)
