I really like this. Instead of "Percy is EVIL" or "Percy is secretly good!!1!", it's just "Percy's life is dull and unsatisfying." I love the realism of it, and of course the hints of bigger themes with his father and Harry, and missing/not-missing The Burrow.

I'm so glad you enjoyed - or enjoyed as much as possible given that it is truly a tale of people's lives being boring and unsatisfying.

Cheers!

I love the quiet tone of this, the sort of humdrum routine that Percy has to go through, and the way that this feels like it was just snipped from canon, it's so realistic.

I love that you made a plausible Percy story - so often he gets turned into a spy, or the devil or some man with ridiculous inner torment. This was real and lovely.

Poor Percy, I just don't give him any fun here, do I?

Cheers! :)

Thank you so much for this! I love missing scenes and alternate point of views on canon events, and imo there's nowhere near enough Percyfic around, so Percy's take on the trial was intriguing ( ... )

I'll reply properly when everything is revealed but I just wanted to say that I'm happy you enjoyed this. Percy was a little tricky to figure out.

Or, rather, his lack of a take on the trial, or on anything.

I'm so glad that wasn't a put off. I was particularly worried because there truly is a lack of *anything* actually happening in this fic but I did want that to be something of the point. I realize that it borders on OOC for what we know of Percy, but from what I've seen in working in bureaucratic environments there is often a lot of puffing up what you do when you really do very little at all.

but that doesn't mean he doesn't love his familyI realize this is gift fic, but I think that is a bit more of me and my thoughts on Weasley meta coming through there. It seems to me so many think it might be easy for Percy to walk away from what might be perceived as a cloying environment. However, I am not sure it is ever easy - even (or maybe especially) when you are the one taking a stand and walking away ( ... )

That was ... well, is "chillingly mundane" too much of an oxymoron? Because really, it is -- especially the hints that Percy WANTS things to go back to normal more than anything, but just can't bring himself to be the one to apologize.
