Oh, my. Seeing Tonks' childhood, marriage, everything through her mother's eyes is just heartbreaking. "But I'll never sleep that deeply any more, and no amount of spoiling can make up for what you've lost." ::snif::

"They can scratch me off the family tree, but they can't scrape away my bones." Wow.

"You're a nursing mother," I said. "Teddy needs you."

She looked at you, and you did that thing you still do, of mirroring the features of the person holding you, so that your fuzz of hair turned pink. And she cuddled you tight, but she looked up at me, and said, "I'm an Auror. The Order needs me."

I could have talked until I was blue in the face, and I nearly did, but it was no good. She was a fighter, my Dora, and she couldn't sit by while the battle happened without her. Not after everything else she'd done. She wouldn't have been Dora if she had.I've always had trouble understanding how Tonks could go off and leave her baby, I think because we don't see enough of her in the books to really make her character clear. So sad. Andromeda is probably the person in canon I felt the sorriest for. I love that she is telling Teddy all about his parents, not only for him, but for herself, too. I loved the hopeful ending!
