Lovely vignette. Remus may not have been a confidante for Snape in canon, but you certainly show how emotionally satisfying it could have been for readers (at least some of us) if JKR had taken that direction with these two. But that's why we have fanfic. Thank you for doing such an excellent job with this.

Very interesting exploration of "walk a mile in another's shoes." I agree also that these two were the correct choice to be able to empathize with one another and still maintain discretion.
Thanks for a thought provoking character exploration!

Oooh, I love this idea - it's the sort of thing you see in TV shows/movies a lot, but as you've shown here, it might actually be realistically possible in the HP 'verse.

I like the scenes you chose to show Remus and Snape - and us the readers - to look at. Especially with Snape - his misunderstanding Lily, and people in general, and the more shocking but probably bullying ways of James and Sirius. Like werewolfsfan, I found this to be a very thoughtful character exploration. (And I think it would work really well as a novella, if you ever do come back to this!)

Nicely done. If only it had happened that way! But Dumbledore always expected people to do what he wanted, with no explanations, rather than what their experience suggested they should do. You explore the possibility of understanding that he never encouraged anyone to pursue.

Lovely story! The little snapshots of moments was enough to make me hungry to see more, see the whole half year unfold ! I really especially liked this line, it was SO Snape:

They're never going to be good friends or anything else that disgustingly saccharine

I did get confused on POV sometimes, between Snape-in-Remus and Remus-in-Snape, but that was really the only downside and not really crucial to understanding the whole. It was really fun to read :) Thank you!
