Oh my god. Wow. I love the way some things have changed and some remain the same. I especially love the twist at the end, finding out that this isn't simply an AU after all. How utterly heartbreaking. Very well done.

Wow, that was very powerful. The story felt very credible, as if it cold have happened in canon, as well. And poor Severus. He gets no reprieve even in fiction :)

Severus is such a tragic figure in canon that I find it difficult to imagine him any other way. It would be an interesting writing challenge, but I can't help wondering how many people would say 'but that's not the Severus we know!'

eeeee, it's fabulous! I love seeing what has changed and what hasn't, and OMG, you completely blew me away with that ending! Perfect! and wow, it seems such a Snape-ish thing to do, and it fits so perfectly into canon ... and ohhhh, his time with Harry! So bitter-sweet ... and yet at the same time, it's just right because that's the way it would have been, isn't it? Wow. I'm afraid that this wasn't very coherent but I am still too squeeful for coherency ... thank you so much! It's absolutely perfect! :D

I'm so glad (and relieved) that you liked it, and that the Snape-Harry parts worked for you. And thanks for the challenge! As pretty much all my fics focus on minor characters or Malfoys, your request caused me a bit of panic initially, but, as I said in my a/n, I was glad to have the opportunity to explore Snape. Prior to DH I was very wary of writing him (especially from his PoV), as it was so obvious that there was more to be revealed about his motivations and it wasn't something I felt I could second-guess. He seems much more solid to me now...
