Oy, that's really quite creepy ... but then I guess that was the intention! And of course it adds yet another layer of tragic foreshadowing onto the Remus/Tonks story, with a last line that has a definite sting to it -- poor sods can't catch a break, can they? :) Although I suppose in a way Lily keeps her promise to look after Tonks' son through her son. Anyway, this definitely fits the criteria, so thank you!

Oh that's so sad! Beautifully written, though! A proper Christmas ghost story.

You know, I don't think I've read very many stories that explore the supernatural aspect of the HP world - and with things like the Veil and the story of the Resurrection stone, Death in the HP verse really does have a creepy, enigma to it. And this story very effectively evokes that eery undertone! Very beautifully written, especially Lily's parts - the story would have lost its' effect if you had overdone those, but there was just the right touch of description and allusion.

Most definitely unusual-but-plausible! I would have liked to have seen a bit more of how Tonks kept her promise in the end (and through her eyes, and an allusion to how Lily kept her promise, maybe - but I like what Snorkackcatcher said about this!), but then you wouldn't have that last line that just adds to the shiver-factor of it all.

This is a most original and refreshing story to read, I enjoyed it greatly (well, I shivered a lot and felt a bit scared, but in this case they're equivalent... LOL). Thanks so much for sharing! :)

That was sad and a bit chilling and pretty original. Interesting idea though having Lily talk to Tonks and promise to protect her son which I imagine her own son did in a way for Tonks's son.
