This is probably the best "Snape lives" story I have ever read. He's just as he ought to be, at peace, yet with his arid personality and arid life otherwise unchanged.

Snape's death was probably the only one in Deathly Hallows (of a character I loved) that I felt at peace about; which I think, perhaps, is why it never occurred to me to search for AU fic where he survived.

But I think even if I had read other 'Snape lives' fic, this would have been the one that, subconsciously, I was searching for.

This is certainly the outstanding story, beautiful narrative and accurate observations. The bed-ridden, proud person's perspective is so convincing. I hope he would be able to let go and finally live his own life.

Reading this with rosamund and we're both sniffing lots.

It was perfectly Snape, especially the fact that he never spoke aloud. And the prose is utterly beautiful.
