... a fair wind, following seas, and a perfect prompt.

I quite like the Weald, although it's Not My Country as such.

and accustomed now also to carrying trays for Meals on Wheels without ever alarming - or bowling over - old ladies.
*Smiles.* Glad to hear it. And that sentence about his mother is incredibly sad but well-written.

and they knew he spoke less than he knew, and heard more than ever he’d say.
Love that statement.

and Harriet went off to Hogwarts to give Hufflepuff House a sharp shake and some bracing tonic, and Dudley went his placid way.
Excellent! I love Dudley with a magical child. :D

And even the Knight Bus was to be preferred to Sobering Spells, as Dudley had learnt very early on indeed.
Ahahaha. And I am loving this intersection of Muggle and Magical living. Excellent back-story with Al and Scorpius, and of course I was tickled that Dudley was an advocate against bullying.

and Dudley, for his part, should be best pleased did Harry eat the lot, rather than leave them to taunt Dudley.*Grins.* Fair point. Love the discussion and debate about the ley lines, especially between an academic!Harry and Millicent, a supporting character ( ... )

They were all used to the natural Muffliato that obscured the odder Wizarding names to Muggle ears
Clever.

‘Malford here’s on the verge of becoming my in-law.’
Ahahaha. (Love the entire interaction about Al and Scorpius' marriage.)

‘Positively gay, in fact,’ said Draco, wickedly.
Ahahaha! And all that Draco's said here. It's keeping me grinning.

Draco, who shared with Dud the character of a reformed bully dedicated to quiet penance, laughed.
Love this.

‘“Mummer’s Holt”,’ said Harry, musingly, and in a tone that positively invited further confidences.
Excellent writing. (And I love the mystery feel to all of this.)

Us being atween Reading and Pompey-and-S’uthhampton and all
I get terribly pleased when Reading is mentioned in a story. :D [/random]

*Grins.* I love Harriet the spunky Hufflepuff.

Green and silver and red and gold poured forth, and blue flame and jets of molten bronze, and glede-gold of the last sparks of fire’s death, and then jet-black seen only as it pulsed through the amber-gold.Three cheers for the Hogwarts ( ... )

I see that once again we have liked the same things - wh is of course why I write them. And country life being what it is, I know all of these people, in one way or another: writing them is, actually, a doddle (so much for my claiming any qualities as an Author rather than a mere transcriptionist).

What a wonderful story! Loved Dudders, Harry-the-Hero, their families and friends, the eccentric old codgers who wandered in and out of the story and your evocation of the English countryside in all its quirky, dozing, sprawling, untidy and (occasionally) dangerous glory. All sprinkled with real ale, gardens, cricket and pub grub! Brilliant!
