Not an original spell, but it's the only explanation of the kind I've seen, so I thought I might share.

Where: In the sequel to A Nick in Time (SS/HP, PG, novella), Growing Pains (SS/HP; NC-17, novel). The quote will be long, but the entire scene works, so I'm reluctant to cut it; instead I'll split it into two comments.

A new twist on an old spell, as well as thoughts on how precision of pronunciation and intent is important in speaking (or thinking, I suppose, given the new canon) spell words.

anniesj's "Defining Accio" is a short Remus/Sirius story that plays on the different possible meanings of the word "come." The really interesting thought about how magic works is that the same spell words can have several different outcomes based on the intent of the caster.
