"Creep"

Just caught myself putting this in fic, and I wasn't sure: is creep a word that an older person from the UK might use? As in, "I'm such a creep", aka pervert.

If not, what are some similar words they might use in that context?

language (general)

Yes, creep would be fine. I don't think there's much difference between how we use the word in Britain and how it's used in the US and other countries.

They might use that in the UK, yes. However, "creep" doesn't necessarily mean a pervert - it could be, but it could also be somebody a bit oily or smarmy or sinister.

Yeah, in this context I actually do intend for it to mean pervert, I just wasn't sure if it was used in that same way in UK - or used at all. Thank you for your input!

If it was a guy perving on a younger woman, I would say "dirty old man. '

When you say "older", how old do you mean?
"Creep" can have different connotations, so someone of 50 might use it to mean a suck-up/brown-nose rather than a pervert. "Perv" might work, or dirty old man.

I meant Snape, haha. Who, yes, isn't that old, but I meant older in general. And "creep" just didn't feel right to me for someone like him - the second I typed it out, I looked at it like eww, that's not right.

Why not use 'letch', as a shortened form of 'lecher'? That gets your point across precisely.

Ouu! Yes! I think this one's the winner! It's Snape who's saying the line (not the exact one I wrote above, that was just for context, but anyway), and I feel like "letch" is something he'd say. Better than "creep", anyway, haha. Thank you!
