This is just amazing. I completely entered into the world of the man who called himself David Yalcin. I love the way you made his hermitage both safe and comforting and, eventually, constricting. As a perpetrator of the secret anagram trope, I laughed out loud at "It continued to be a good name: foreign but not markedly so, common but not suspiciously so. It had no ties to his old life, held no secret significance, made no clever anagram. It was only a name, and one that had thus far served him well."

The way you've given David peace but not complete self-understanding - perfect. And Viktor Krum, a shadowy figure in the books, gets a nice fleshing out here, a whole life and past that makes sense. This - the way his old-fashioned quill dripped a speck of ink as it hesitated before the word "Riddle" - told me oceans about Viktor's intelligence and David's psychic wounds and so cleverly and concisely. The inserted correspondence - okay, I had to enlarge it so my eyes could read it - leant a rich depth and reality to the world
