Yeah, I'm going to get an external hard drive soon. I can't back up anything to CD because my burner hasn't worked in a long time...so after the holidays, I'll probably get the EHD and do some major backing up. *sigh*

It was snowy and blowy last night...but nothing bad. I'll continue to hope it was a surge and hope I can get my stuff backed up before it happens again...

I'm kind of with the power surge too. Do you have a power backup or just the power strip?

Just the strip...but shouldn't the lights have flickered or something too?

Get the largest capacity external or portable hard drive you can afford and start scheduling nightly backups. We have lost a computer and more recently a monitor to power surges, and that's with a super protector attached, so whenever the weather is lightning, etc we shut everything off, including the 50" TV.

That sucks! Yeah...I'll be looking into an external HD soon after the holidays are over...I don't know much about them, so I am going to make my "twin" go with me and get a good one and show me how to use it...*sigh*

I really hope it was a surge rather than something else...
