ADMIN POST: SPOILER POLICY and Challenge #217: Predictions

Jul 14, 2007 12:01

This community will be under the same spoiler policy as was voted upon by the community for the release of HBP:

Beginning 12:01 am July 21, and through midnight August 4 US Pacific (which means toward the end of the day August 5 for some folks, I know), all spoilers for DH must be cut and warned for outside the cut. The warning should be clear enough that a person reading the header will be certain to understand it. This means even you are only posting one drabble, but it spoils, you should cut, and also means, if you are posting several drabbles and cutting per usual comm rules, you need to warn appropriately. You may, for this period, spam the comm by posting spoilery drabbles in one post and non-spoilery ones in another, where you might ordinarily make a single post.

Please respect that others may be actively trying to avoid spoilers, and choose not to make spoilery comments in response to not-spoilery drabbles. This will be impossible to police, but I ask for your well-intended efforts.

If you post a drabble uncut that should be cut, as soon as I see it, I will delete it. This will be no reflection on content, merely on failure to cut; you are welcome to re-post it under a cut.

Mistakes will happen and we will all try to get along. This means if you inadvertently read something spoilery that I haven't found and deleted yet, you will sigh and comment respectfully asking the OP to cut (one such request should be fine--no need for eighteen people to jump on someone). If you can't live with that rule (with the potential for error, because I am going to trust that the hundreds of you who post here will be grown-ups and try to be kind and get it right), then please do remove this comm from your f-list until you are ready for spoilers.

For the sake of all our sanity: character names and place names are not to be considered spoilers, and, please refrain from using icons that give away plot points in DH, as they will of course also show up outside the cut. I hope that's clear enough; it's certainly long enough.

And now for the count and new challenge. Gryffindor won last week with 30, followed by Slytherin with 10.

As last time, in the spirit of all of our excitement about upcoming new canon, this week's challenge is Predictions. This can be taken any way you like (specific or general prophecies, antics in divination class, characters' expectations, whatever) and or can be drabbles based on your personal predictions about what will happen in DH.

Notice these aren't subject to the spoiler rules because they're predictions, not spoilers, yes? Since the new challenge may not be issued until midday next Sat, that may give some of you a chance to have read the new book while this challenge is still running. In that case, I ask that you refrain from posting on the topic of predictions for DH for those few hours (as they aren't predictions anymore...), though you are free to put up general or post-DH prediction based drabbles as long as they are cut appropriately for spoiler content.

Okay?

Still 100 words, titles in the subject lines, and have fun!
