Although I had not thought about it that way before I think you're right about the abbreviated form fitting this subject well. I imagine that being a werewolf could easily make one experience life as a series of short, discrete periods bounded by the full moons. Rather like seeing your past as a series of drabbles.

You're right that he would still be dependent on Snape, but I think that although he'd consider himself deeply indebted to Snape for the potion he wouldn't consider himself controlled by Snape in the same way as he was controlled by the moon without it. And I rather like the idea of him owing Snape for the Wolfsbane, anyway - I fully admit to being something of a Snupin fan. :)
