*waves* Heya, I’m new here… Anyway, linked drabbles with a ‘jeanne d’arc’ theme, looking at the difference between the cognitive (abstract) rationalization of right versus the physical (concrete, material) justification of right and… blegh, just read them. :P

Hi, Mod here.

These are all very nice, but:

1. I'm not so sure each of them really fits the theme? Or at least, some, I'm not seeing it. Especially if you try to read them as stand-alone drabbles--then the connection is really not so clear.

2. Please review the rules regarding format/subject line.

Thanks, and welcome.

Apologies:

1. I intended these drabbles to be about the tension between a concrete (or material) philosophy - dealing with sexuality, greed, blunt emotivism, etc., not necessarily mere hedonism but exploring how it can twist causes - and an abstract philosophy that focused more on objectivism, rationalism, etc. Hermione is obviously leaning towards the latter, but must confront the former in a variety of settings: the blunt emotivism of her friends, the greed/ambition of other Death Eaters, the temptation of sexuality, irrational compassion, etc. etc. But she remains true to the abstract rationalism to the very end, and to that, an ideal beyond herself, an objective ideal, beyond the reach of that blind material sense ( ... )

Oh, I have no problem with a different take on the word in the prompt; I try pretty hard to have the prompts my weeks have multiple possible concepts attached. I only meant, if you read them as separate (since they should stand alone), I think you might lose the concept in some of the individual drabbles.

Be sure to get the subject line so they count for house points.

I like!

The Maid is always a fascinating figure, and twinning her with Hermione was and interesting choice that worked well.

Merci. :)

Oooh, I know. I mean, most people know the gist of the legend, but I wandered onto the article on her at Wikipedia, and it was just so crammed with interesting tidbits. Finding this came almost immediately afterward, so it was an obvious link. Usually, the only historical figures that interest me are ancient ones (Zenobia, Cleopatra, Caesar, etc.) but Joan's an exception. She's.... urgh. Fun to play with in the head. [/ramble]

Bernard Shaw's play (& especially the introduction to the play) is wonderful. Makes her a really believable person, refuses to go all sensationalist. She's a genius who gets trapped and crushed in the tension between the Church and the Feudal System.

Oooh, there's a recording of it in the library system, too. *puts on hold*

Thanks for the rec. :)
