I like it. Especially the interior-monologue-but-in-third-person style.(There is a proper term for that, but I've forgotten what it is.) But it gives Neville a very clear voice, and gave me a great sense of his character. At first the resignation and passivity, with a nice shift at the end to reveal a more determined side to his character.
Why do I describe people's drabbles back them? I don't know, but I hope they don't mind! :)
At the moment, Slytherin and Hufflepuff are neck and neck in terms of housepoints. Not that I want to take that kind of thing too seriously or anything, but it's still fun to have the temporary responsibility of upholding the House's honour. ;)
Actually, I think it is nice to have my writing described back to me. It lets me know if what I did was effective. I guess it worked this time!
Yes, it does seem like we are holding up the house honor at the moment. Perhaps there is more drabble where these came from? The idea of 'performance' really speaks to me. I was a theatre major, after all. ;-)
I love this challenge. It's not limiting, and like you I find the idea an inspiring one. "Performance" can work in so many ways. (Also: A theatre major! *is jealous*)
