Great interpretation of Draco. He really does seem to be 'acting a part' in canon, so this use of the challenge is IMNVHAAO (In My Not Very Humble At All Opinion) a convincing one.
Also, the idea of Draco playing the handsome prince at a pageant makes me laugh. Flutter those thick eye-lashes, Ducky! ;)
Thank you. I knew a lot of little kids who were 'local stars' until they got old enough not to be so cute anymore. It seems to me that Draco has a very childish idea of what it means to be the center of attention - something much more out of fiction than real life.

Yes. That strikes one very strongly in HBP, wherein he's suddenly confronted with the brutal reality of the role he's created for himself.
