Sirius traced the pattern of scars with his fingers, noting with a smile the way Moony shivered.
“I’ve missed you,” he whispered hoarsely, bending to taste the marks he had touched. “All of you.”
Amber eyes were lit with sorrow. “I’m so sorry I didn’t trust you.”
Twelve years hung between them. So much lost time.
“Don’t apologize. Kiss me.”
A pause - a hesitation, really - and then Sirius’s mouth was captured. His friend, his lover, his Moony. Tears dripped into his mouth, and he wasn’t sure which one of them shed them, but they tasted of regret and of hope.

“There is a greater design, you know, Harry.” Dumbledore’s voice was just as it had always been, even coming from within the portrait in which he now resided.
Harry shrugged, uncomfortably angry and not wanting to be. He knew that Dumbledore was right about the “greater design” and wanted to accept that peacefully. But the anger and resentment at losing the Headmaster still bubbled within him.
“I know, Professor.”
“Yes, I believe that you do.”
“Won’t you tell me anything about Snape?” Harry begged.
“No, Harry, I’m sorry but I can’t, especially now. His path is difficult, and his own.”
