Yikes! Bella is like, totally crazy. I'm starting to think people thinks she's more evil than even Voldie. Seriously! Like, she LIKES to be that way. And Tom, well, he just had a rough childhood and a resulting power complex. Interesting stuff.
To me, she is one of the more interesting characters in the novels and we haven't seen that much of her yet. I don't know if JKR intended us to take her in this particular direction but it's not like we have a lot of characterization that is cannon.
The line when Harry Crucios Bella sorta does it for me.
You're right; readers interpret characters based on what they see in canon. So it's JK's fault if our characterization is wrong, haha.
She is quite interesting, and I think the mix of evil and that fact that she is a woman. She's either a horrible person because she's evil and a woman, or she's super cool because she's evil and a woman. Does that make sense?
I think we can all agree that she is a horrible person. But she is one of the strongest adult female bad guys I've ever seen. Of course, that might just exist in my head at this point and not be based on cannon reality, if that makes any sense.
Evilness can be very interesting to write...and I forgot where I was going with that...grrr.
I like both. The first is very haunting, and I can only imagine what Alice would do if she was healthy at the time of Bella's escape, or what Neville would do if he knew about Alice at this time.
The second one is interesting, and my comments follow along with the canon/characterization debate. We know that Sirius had to have some memory to prevent his going crazy. But Bella, well, there's no doubt that she is indeed crazy after Azkaban, but she was crazy before it as well. My question would be if there was something like this, a memory, like Sirius had, or if she just wasn't as crazy before. If only we saw more of her in canon...
And omg, Aqua! I thought I was the only one who still listened to that CD!
Thanks, doll! I just picture Mrs. L. as being a Lady, for some reason, and I tried to give that impression...you know, the whole 'show no emotion' other than disdain and maybe slight ennui.
Hehe - the wicked!writer strikes again. I love writing her, she can do anything. I would bet she was clinging to her faith that Voldemort would come back to keep her sane. And, let's face it, fanatics don't have far to go to fall off that crazy cliff.
I am very much in love with your Bella. Love how the Dementors have met their match in dealing with her... as in, there are some memories even they don't want to carry even if they are considered "Happy Thoughts".
I was trying to do a scales of justice Bella ruminating about things while stuck in a cell and it evolved into this. I think this works best, though, because I twigged the idea that the Dementors might not want to know everything, ya know?
