These. Are. WONDERFUL. I love the first, because it is SO what Remus, Sirius, and Peter would do. It's so very Maurader like. I love the second, not only because it's so stupidly silly but also because it's so painfully *true* and Sirius, in getting them wrong, got them tragically right. I love that Remus is BAD at poetry. I love that he gets it technically right but dreadfully wrong. Idiot boys indeed. I love the fact that Peter isn't inept. That his gifts are meaningful. It makes his betrayl so much more haunting and hurtful because he DID care.
I love the fact that Lily talks it out with Alice (and I love Alice's suggestion!) and the fact that James is trying to be a gentleman about the whole thing. I like that it's not a game, to either of them, and that it happened without them knowing. And I love the fact that James pulls a muddy Lily onto his broom. It's so romantic, without being sappy.
These are GREAT! I love seeing the Marauders try and FAIL to be romantic. I love seeing Peter try and succeed at being funny.
Poor Sirius. He was trying hard to be romantic and all he did was foreshadow the future. (That was a shuddery, sad, ironic drabble! Well done!)
Poor Remus! All his attempts at poetry just... too technical, I suppose. I love the bit about the red-haired nymph guarding the Pierien Spring of the Muses. :-)
My favorite line was "Regrettably, James also has no imagination, as his three best friends--whom he cursed with lasting nicknames--could swear."
I love these! The subtle foreshadowing, all of them helping James -- and failing for once, ahhh boys --Lily's additude, the inclusion of Peter!*sighs happily*
Especially Peter's gifts - the slinky! Hilarious. And then horribly sad. Sirius' gift is so typically Sirius - show-offy but well meant. And then the real meanings ... *gulps*. That's the worst of the Marauder era - we know what happens.
I loved that they all got the gifts a little wrong - they're idiot boys, of course they won't be perfect. And I love that whatever James' faults, he's still chivalrous and gallant and a nice bloke underneath it all.
Oh, and I'm glad you have Alice as Lily's friend. That's how it is in my head as well!
Wonderful drabbles.
*checks again* yey - you're a Hufflepuff. Oh good. That's even better!
Those are wonderful, very sweet and... yeah. Very touching. I love the ones about Remus (Not so much purple as ultra-violet.. best. line. ever!) And the one about Peter is just so... touching. It really is. Sirius is haunting that the last one just ties it up nicely. A loverly collection of drabbles featureing all sorts of moods and emotions. Great work!
