Only two weeks to go!
*is excited*
For those of you who want to take part in the private Harry Potter Trail Walking Tour, please meet us a few minutes before 4pm on 14th September in front of the Greyfriars Bobby Pub/the entrance to Greyfriars Kirkyard.
Coming from the Royal Mile, walk down George IV Bridge, past the Elephant House, where JKR wrote much of the first book, until you reach a small statue of a dog. Yes, you read that right. From there, just cross the street to the pub.
Cloaks, wands and cameras are welcome :)
Cost of the walking tour is 6 pounds per person.
The tour will end around 5:30pm around the corner from Riddles Court and will give us the opportunity to regroup, buy some postcards, have a look around etc. before we all meet up at Riddels Court shortly before 6pm for a light dinner, raffle, quiz, games, discussion and general shenanigans.
We will be meeting in beautiful historic rooms fit for Riddle Manor!
After 10pm we can either drop dead after a long day or take things to a pub nearby.
Now.
Sunday.
For those of you who are staying the Sunday we could meet for brunch at Spoon or The Elephant House (or somewhere else).
If you read or watched The Da Vinci Code and would like to go looking for the Holy Grail, you might be interested in visiting Rosslyn Chapel.
http://www.rosslynchapel.org.uk/ Take bus 15A from Princes Street (same fee as within Edinburgh: 1.50 single or 3.50 day ticket) directly to Roslin. It takes just under an hour. Entry is 9 pounds and the tour is quite entertaining.
Otherwise, Edinburgh Castle and Holyrood Palace are obvious places to visit but can be quite crowded and entry is not cheap.
The permanent exhibitions of a lot of excellent museums are free to visit by the way :)
