“You ready to go?” Sirius called from the front door of Grimmauld Place.
“I had to find something decent to wear,” Harry said, hopping down the stairs, sporting a new orange and black jumper. “All of my old ones are frayed, and there’s only so much Reparo can do.”
Sirius shook his head bemusedly. Harry was a hoarder, especially concerning gifts. “Well, it doesn’t matter for where we’re going.”
“And you’re still not going to tell me?” Harry asked.
Sirius grinned back. “Nope.”
He Apparated them to a forest. A gusty wind up in the treetops forced leaves to dance about the place, a confetti of fall colour. Harry smiled in delight.
“This way.”
Stepping into a clearing, Harry gasped, as all around jack-o-lanterns began to glow. Some stomped, some sang, and some danced to festive Halloween tunes. “It’s brilliant!”
“I know you didn’t get a lot of happy times as a kid, so I thought I’d do something special for your twentieth Samhain.”
Harry blushed a little. “Thanks, Siri. It means the world to me.”
They locked eyes. Hoping the best gift would be himself, Sirius leant forward and kissed Harry, thanking the gods when Harry kissed him back.
