Change the title of your journal

Jun 11, 2001 20:56

To change the title that is displayed in the browser window's title bar, use the following override:

GLOBAL_HEAD<=
The Journal of basic LiveJournal (©) tutorials
<=GLOBAL_HEAD

You can customize the actual wording of the title to say whatever you like.

NOTE: This override will not work for the system styles Default, Punquin Elegant with Sidebar ( Read more... )

- all styles, journal title, title

i tried to change the title of my journal but it didn't work.. it may be that i'm using the punquin style or something?

i think i've done all correctly.. it was very simple.. and all the other overrides i've done are working..

You did do it right.

There is a quirk with the punquin style that puts the %%head%% (where the GLOBAL_HEAD is inserted) UNDER the %%name%%%%name-'s%% journal tag. So, the GLOBAL_HEAD over-ride wont work on the title of the page [the browser reads the first title tag first making the over-ride irrelevant.]

You have a paid account so you can edit this manually by going to the create a style page, making a new style and either editing the existing tag or just moving the %%head%% before the <TITLE>%%name%%%%name-'s%% journal

Should have this quirk fixed, really.

why not help everyone? slowmow June 29 2001, 18:58:08 UTC
So why don't the creators just change that for everyone rather than everyone having to do it themselves, provided that it seems like quite a complex process and would cost people with paid accounts time as well the money they are paying. You may be even discouraging people from being paid account members like this.

Hi Opi,

Any idea as to why this doesn't seem to be working here?

Punquin Style has the %%head%% attribute in the wrong place for anything to really work :-/

It looks as though they are trying to change the names of the different links on the actual page, not the Title portion

Sorry about the style mixup :-/

hey Opi, please help me.... someone? anyone? please? devilmiyu December 10 2001, 23:44:30 UTC
Jillwolf gave me this link when I posted here:
http://www.livejournal.com/support/see_request.bml?id=24927

The thing is, as much as I appreciate her help, I think she misunderstood what I was trying to change. I don't wanna change the title bar of my browser, I wanted to change the actual title of my journal like this:
http://www.virtue.nu/devilmiyu/journal.jpg

Could you please show me how to do that?

i can't read and it did change, in the tool bar. Is there anyway that I can get "Kristina's Journal" on my actual page to change?

i used the code for this thing and it worked and all, but it somehow made my font override not work. why does it do this, and can i use this code without having it mess up my font?
