Coyote and Jay make it outside in the middle of all the chaos, darting around fleeing patrons and panicking staff to the employee parking lot.
Bird, Raguel, and Epimetheus are there as well.
Brother and sister hug and pound each other on the back, while all five of them attempt to explain to each other what happened at once. Bird refuses to leave (she has information about the mob, and insists she would be sent back down to liaise with the police anyway), and Jay decides to stay (he isn't letting her out of his sight).
Coyote sighs and shakes her head, and sends Raguel and Epimetheus away with promises of further explanation later. She may or may not fulfill them.
"Before you go," she says to Jay, "I have something for you. If you insist on learning more of something that can only be dangerous to you, I will give you a teacher." Coyote reaches out and brushes her fingers across his forehead. Jay
blinks, and
when he opens his
eyes, he startles, as if he can see something (or someone) behind Coyote.
"His name is Harrison Tso, and he has been a thorn in my side for more than a year. Now he is your problem." Leaving Jay staring into thin air with one eyebrow raised, she turns to Bird.
"I'll call," her daughter says.
"It would be better if you did not," Coyote replies.
"I'll call," Bird repeats, mouth setting into a stubborn frown.
She watches them walk away. Then, she sits down and waits.
