The door Coyote opens leads to a brightly lit section of the strip. You can barely tell it's getting late in the evening, the sky is practically blotted out by blinding fluorescents ( Read more... )

"Ah- that exit comes out near the service one near you guys- that works perfectly too. And we have a first aid kit and plenty of gatorade."

"... And by the way? From the little I did manage to find, you can either kill off the spirit that's helping the Nahual, or sic another Nahual on the one that's bugging you."

Beat.

"We should let them know that blowing them up works too."

Laini grins innocently at that last part, then starts closing up some of the programs. The little green beetles have returned to their virtual cage, and the computerized security in Babylon is pretty well fried. And with the shooting and fire alarms, well-

She starts humming "Luck be a Lady", and pulls up one of the original screens.

"What'd'ya say, hot stuff? One or two million?"

"I'd say," Riley says after a moment's consideration, "you're aiming a little low."

"I don't want to be too greedy." Laini taps a finger against her lips, thinking- then types in a few digits and hits enter.

"Right, then." She swivels the chair around to give him a grin.

"Let's go pick the heros up, shall we?"

Meanwhile, back in the casino...

"Same goes, sweetheart." Dean's quick grin for the waitress is easy and warm. "You take care of yourself."

He ducks through the door to the outside first, scanning for any threats. Sam's right behind him, still half-carrying Liz.

Liz stared at the waitress, but Dean saved her from having to come up with an answer, which is probably good for everyone, because she's slurring a little with exhaustion just now.

She's used to the shrieking; not so much the thanking. She manages a tiny smile to the waitress as they go, mostly a quirk of one side of her mouth, but she's focused on holding onto Sam, on not letting her treacherous knees get the best of her, and on not blacking out.

Outside: there is no van.

Joris frowns, stepping further out into the alleyway to look down either side. One way goes to the street, the other to the employee parking lot, and all he sees are a couple of dumpsters and flat-bed delivery trucks.

"... I thought the van was supposed to be here."

.... Right. That.

Laini grabs her PDA and turns off the 'Someone. Else's. Problem.' field currently surrounding the van.

Duh. Van right next to the dumpsters. Really, people.

"C'mon!" Riley yells, hanging out the driver's window, slapping the outside of the door (with several echoing metallic thumps) for good measure.

The back doors are open.

(He really could have gone his entire life without driving in another coronary-inducing medium-speed van chase, he thinks.

At least there are no motorcycles this time.)

"That. Is so cool."

Artemis scrambles into the back of the van with more speed than grace, turning to help any of the others in.

"Figures," Dean mutters. If he's impressed it damn well isn't showing.

That and he's hanging back to let Sam help Liz in first. You know, just in case.

Everything else has been a clusterfuck, why stop now?

Goddamn Tricksters.

Goddamn Vegas.

And he didn't even get to bet a dime.
