A short, sweet scene. :)

I can't quite decide whether I find "to everything there is a season" comforting or strangely harsh, given that the context is an *untimely* death--I took it the way (I presume) it was meant on first reading, but then it started to disturb me... But I like the tension-breaking goofiness of the exchange that follows, and the intimacy of them doing it while still hugging. :)

Yeah, it was meant to be comforting. I was thinking of the "a time to kill" line and not "a time to die" so it was supposed to reflect more on Ray's position in things, but I actually wasn't too sure about putting the line that inspired the fic in the fic because more realistically, I could see it setting off Kowalski's temper again, but I could not get the silly little exchange out of my head so I put it in. Like I said, I'm not fully satisfied with this one. If I had had the time, I would have searched for a beta to help me figure out which way to take it, but you know, 24 hour challenge. *shrugs*

I'm glad you liked it anway. Thanks for the comment!

Oh, interesting; I hadn't thought about the "kill" side of the quote.

Yeah, I sympathize with the authorial dilemma there -- I always have to squash my tendency to put in everything I think of (address every issue I think of), which just ends up with characters philosophizing at each other at tedious length. :) And it would be sad to lose the ending exchange...

If you decide to either revise this or expand it into a series, and want a beta for it, I'd be happy to oblige. :)

Thanks. I'll keep you in mind for the beta job. I just signed up for the Big Bang. I'm not sure yet if I'm doing a fic or art for it. If I'm doing fic, who knows when I would get around to writing this series, but I think I may give it a go whenever I get the chance. I've got someone on DW who said they would be interested in seeing more. So yeah, if I decide I'm definitely writing more, I'll drop you a line and see if you're still interested. :)

The voices are excellent, and a series or continuation would be quite intriguing, though it also has a nice amount of strength as a stand-alone.

Delicately angsty. Finely written in the constraints of 24 hour tag.
