He failed! When my friend arrived at work this morning, he was just below level 77. Shame, I was sure he was going to make it. The key factors that he cited as preventing him from reaching level 80 were the fact that there was a 2-hour queue every time he tried to connect to the server, and the need to sleep. Nope! The only online RPGs I've played in much depth are Diablo 2 (Which wasn't massively multiplayer), Phantasy Star Online (Which wasn't either), and various ropey Korean/Asian free MMORPGs, like Maple Story, Flyff, and Perfect World. And I've never managed to keep any of those up for a prolonged period. I reckon I could get drawn into WoW pretty easily, though, which is all the more reason to avoid it.

Don't do it - it's far too addictive (says she who is going onto her 3rd year of playing/logging in every day!) I can't believe the stupid people levelling quickly for bragging rights...I'm a respectable 73 and I will further my cause this weekend, but meh, that's if I'm well enough.

Well, some people are competitive gamers! The only thing I'm competitive about is Audiosurf, really. When I get those emails saying someone beat my score, I'll usually drop what I'm doing and try to reclaim my top spot! But yes, I'm purposely steering clear of WoW. Hope you feel well enough to level this weekend!
