Comcast Internet Actual Cost?

Feb 23, 2012 06:55

Here's a simple question that Comcast wouldn't answer without my selling my soul to them first (no thanks!): if I just had their internet (no TV, no phone, no bundled anything), say the $50/month plan for 6 Mbps, about how much extra would they charge me every month for "applicable taxes and fees ( Read more... )

1) http://imgur.com/5UjnD (for 50/5, but it's more like 60/8)

their docsis 3.0 service is a huge rip off. I paid $90 for the same speed in lafayette, la.

Any idea how much of that $7.xx in fees is flat rate and how much is proportional? It's hard to judge when your plan is over twice the price of what I'm looking at.

I don't know the answer to your questions, but seeing you post about Comcast made my blood boil. I just had a horrible experience with them, so much so that I wrote a complaint (which is something I NEVER do). Basically I ordered tv/internet for my specific address, went through every step, even had to chat with an online rep to confirm everything and make sure I didn't need any additional service. My equipment was supposed to have been delivered within 5-7 business days and when that didn't happen, I called to find out what was going on... Evidently they had my personal information in their system but according to the rep on the phone, my address was "unservicable" and I couldn't even get wireless at my location. W..T..F. So I'd been waiting around for over a week for NOTHING. The most she could do was initiate a request for them to come out and see if my address was eligible, but even that blows my mind because I'm in the city, in a well established neighborhood (not new construction) and I guarantee everyone around me has ( ... )

Oh, believe me, I'm not thrilled with the idea of selling my soul to Comcast, but when the only real choices to cancel my ridiculously-overpriced home phone and go internet only is to halve my current speed with AT&T DSL for 20% less $ per month (where the speed decrease is unacceptable to roomie) or pay twice as much for twice the speed on Comcast, I'm kind of between a rock and a hard place. I'm just trying to figure out the precise cost of the rock.

when I had the internets installed, the guy came out 4 hours early on a saturday and finished in 20 minutes. if you're paying additional every month for wireless, you're giving away free money. that's about as poor of a financial decision as leasing a modem.
