Truly beautiful chapter. I really love seeing their world through Morag's eyes. How she thinks she can just live off nature. She's in for a shock in LA.
Well, hell, I have no idea. I'm about four time zones from home and nowhere near my MG books, but I'll check that when I get home. I think you're correct, though.
I'm thrilled you're still enjoying this. I did some of my best fic writing when I was supposed to be doing my thesis. Now I just write when I'm TDY. What's your thesis on?
And everyone's in for a shock when she finally explains. Good storytelling always has a few shocks in it...
Yes, something about a looming thesis means you suddenly have so much time in your schedule to do completely unrelated things... sigh. I'm a Museum Studies major, with an emphasis in Education. This means my thesis is making all of the educational materials related to an upcoming exhibit on Japanese Internment Art at the Museum of Craft and Folk Art. It's also on cooperation with a community organization when planning educational materials, since we're getting the grant to do all the fun stuff from the Japanese American Citizens League. I'm just starting to outline my chapters and define m areas of research and literature review, so at this point I have way more gaping holes than answers
( ... )
I'm only a few days from home, so I'll check again, but I think it is supposed to be Sluagh. I'll edit that when I get a chance.
Sounds like an interesting thesis. My dissertation was on infrasonic wave propagation at teleinfrasonice and near-regional distances. Puts most people to sleep.
I enjoy Celtic myths as well, though I'm not much of an expert. It's the stuff I enjoy most about her MG books--myths and politics.

As always, I love it. Using Morag's eyes to see the odd world of MG is so much fun, and a good way for those of us not in the know for the TA world to get to know her.
See? I told you your questions would be answered in good time!
As for the hellhounds, they will definitely make an appearance. Trust me.
I agree that many times authors short shrift interactions, making characters too eager to spill the beans and help each other out. Particularly when you have protagonists like Morag, who is very self-protective, it makes no sense to have everyone gush over each other like long lost friends. Plus, making your story work for it results in fantastic tension for the readers.
I'm guess the hellhounds will show up in Arc 3, which should be Morag's return to the sithen? Kekekekeke... Oh! Did I mention I love her thoughts on Adais? Cruelty indeed. Totally can't wait for those two to clash again. *gets starry-eyed*

This is more a comment for the last chapter, but shouldn't it be 'sluagh' instead of 'slaugh'?
I can't wait to see how this unfolds, especially when Morag explains what a Gatherer does.
