Definitely soon! I'm glad the Angelus is well received. He's just too much fun not to make an appearance in this new world.

Eeeeeeeee! All that delicious evil in Angelus, channeled towards power rather than just messing with Buffy! I can't wait for more. :D I've got to read YS now to get a hold of all that's happened, but somehow I'll suffer through it.

Also, yay, Anya! I love how she's matured but she's still herself - balls to the wall, if I can't get what I want then you'd better have a damn good reason why, fuck you if you don't like it. Yay!

YS is an easy read, I think. Do you not like Dawn? She can be fun to write, though I should warn you, that story is every bit as warped as this one. I've got two more planned, Tomorrow's Sunset [another Dawn story] and Eternal Midnight [Dawn and Anya's gang].

I like Anya because she is so very honest about herself and her motivations. That's refreshing to write in a character.

Just finished YS, and liked it. I thought that the way you laid out the changes was nicely done - subtle enough not to seem like you were painting a neon sign saying, "Look, things changed!", but not so subtle that we're left wondering why it's different. First person was a good choice for handling the narration, because it all came down to Dawn, and so seeing her internal monologue was vital. It all built up to I was too selfish to trade my mother for Willow. I couldn’t, but at least I was honest with myself, right?, and by then I could totally buy into it, understand not only why Dawn is making the choice, but also why it's the right choice for her.

Hee hee, I guessed it! Well, half of it. Angelus - I should have known. Very nice chapter, though poor Giles, bound to Angelus. Why do I have the feeling that's not going to go down very well with Dawn?

I think that Dawn has other fish to fry, and while she does make a very brief appearance in this fic, it's really about Anya. Dawn's reactions to everything will make up the next fic in this series. Also, we should remember that Dawn probably doesn't know about the torture Angelus inflicted on Giles. She and her mother would have been unaware of that aspect of Buffy's life at the time, as as we know from the show, Giles never brought it up again on camera. It's unlikely that he would have ever mentioned it around Dawn, who he viewed as a child, and Dawn had very little interaction with Angel or Angelus. Anya knew about it from Xander, or she did in my worldview here, but I can't imagine Anya would bring it up with Dawn either. That wouldn't make anyone very happy, and Anya is all about making sure everything runs smoothly ( ... )

No, no, I love that you think too much about these things. It makes me feel less psychotic when I do it myself. But I really like your take on Angel/Angelus, and agree very, very much that they were both disturbed. One of the things that always bothered me about Buffy/Angel was how he treated her sans-soul . . the obvious comparison that springs to mind being Spike and Dru. You can make the high-minded argument that a vampire without a soul is incapable of True Selfless Love, but they're clearly capable of a reasonable fascimile. Affection and devotion, anyway. And Angelus had no such feelings for Buffy, or if he did, they were drowned out by his profound hatred of the fact that she'd made him behave. He hated his guilt, hated having to control himself, more than he loved anyone or anything. Which, really, makes him a sociopath with or without his soul. With the soul, he hated the way his mind worked and fought it - without the soul he thought it was just nifty, and made him better than others (like Spike, for example, who I ( ... )

And I would argue neither did Liam. He lived for his own pleasure, and his pleasure only, and even then demonstrated some sociopathic tendencies, for all that we saw of him. I loved the character of Angel and never understood why people thought him boring. He's fascinating in his delusions, whether about his guilt or evil, it's still all.about.him. Poor guy, he never gets any respect for his self-centered lifestyle.

Woot Woot and triple woot!! This is wonderful! Anya, Angelus and Giles going after the London vamp scene is such a marvelous take on this wishverse. You really are brilliant. ;-)
