[ota] Long Live The King.....Mm?

Nov 18, 2012 14:31

Hadyn couldn't have told anyone when he'd fallen asleep. He'd just known he hadn't been sleeping entirely well (despite the medication Caleb had put him on.) There had been strange dreams- rolling from declaring himself to be King only to be challenged five seconds later to his unexplained appearance in the middle of the frozen Atlantic ocean. Hadyn had ordered coffee, and then sat down to drink it. Except he wasn't drinking it, he was slouched inside the air chair, and had fallen asleep. It was late, the shop was closing, and Hadyn wasn't waking up. It was ok to let him sleep, but not when everyone was going home and the place was shutting down for the night.

In Su knew him, so he approached and gently pressed his fingers to the other guy's shoulder, murmuring "Heydin... Heydin... wake up" He felt bad, but it had to be done. And it was his job to do it.

He jerked a little as he came around, blinking a bit at In-su before frowning deeply at the scene around him. It took a few moments to remember where he was, though he was a bit unsure as to how long he'd been out for the count.

"I'm awake," he said, rubbing his eyes with one hand before forcing himself to sit up a little more.

Half of the lights were off, it was only the lights in the main shop that were open, the ones where the public would sit. Everyone else was gone, In Su was ready to lock up behind Hadyn when they both left. The japanese family had already gone home. "Are you ok? You were asleep for several hours..." between 3 and 4 hours, he'd guess.

He looked at the cold cup of coffee on the table beside him and whispered "Do you want more coffee? Yours is cold by now... Or something to eat?"

"Uh, no. No, thank you though. Sorry." He said softly, pushing himself up to his feet and picking up his coffee with a yawn.

"I'm fine, just tired I guess." And honestly feeling a bit under the weather, but there wasn't much reason to get into all of that. "I'll get out of your way so you can clean up, yeah?"

Hadyn didn't usually fall asleep on his feet. In fact, make that never. He usually worked himself harder than anyone, so when Mitchell tried to call him over the radio, much like he called Henry when he was helping with his plays, he started to worry. It was totally likely Hadyn had taken off his headset, but when he needed to ask something important, he went in search of him, rather than bothering with the radio. He'd managed to keep things going, people on stage on time, sets put out in the right scenes, but it was almost over, and he hadn't heard from Hadyn in a while. He ran to the other wing, where Hadyn should be stationed, to look for him ( ... )

"Go away," Hadyn muttered, shifting a bit uncomfortably on the coil of ropes before letting his eyes crack a little. It was the jab of the headset into his neck more than Mitch that woke him up, though.

"What?" Be that him trying to play things off, or actual confusion as to why he was tangled in ropes might well be debatable, but he didn't clarify beyond that simple word.

Well! That was a nice way to talk to a friend when he was trying to show concern. He bent down and helped him unwind from the rope, looking bemused "Bro, the play is almost over, I've been trying to call you on the headset since the end of the first act."

"How long you been out? I've never seen you just pass out like this..." he reached out his hand to help Hadyn stand up.

He groan a little, getting to his feet and snatching up his headset. "It isn't anything." He said, shaking his head as he scrubbed his face. "Just feeling a bit under the weather is all." Or a lot. Ug, how was he going to make it through the next week at this rate?

"Are we done yet?" He asked, really just not feeling like doing the whole bow thing. Maybe he could send Mitchell out instead.

He had just seen Hadyn the other day at Jordan's birthday and the thought had crossed his mind his younger nephew had seemed a little like he was under the weather. Of course...Hadyn had generally seemed to be on the verge of under the weather for quite some time now so he hadn't, honestly, thought too deeply about it.

But when he finds Hadyn passed out in a chair in the hall near the Ace of Spades' office office, well. That's different.

"Hadyn?" He reaches down and nudges his shoulder carefully, "you okay?"

Well, that answer was fairly obvious.

Hadyn grunted a little as he opened his eyes and blinked up at Davin. He didn't remember sitting, though he remembered being told Julien was in a meeting. He'd opted to wait, he remembered that but not the sitting and then falling asleep.

"Uh, yeah...sorry. I...guess I was just sleepier than I thought." Or something like that. He coughed a little, sitting up a little more. "I was...waiting on Julien."

Davin glanced down at the still-closed office door. "It may be a while. You sure you wouldn't want to wait somewhere more comfortable?" Like on Davin's couch. "I'll make sure the Ace knows where to find you."

But if Hadyn expected they were going to be doing training or whatever today...well...Davin would likely have other ideas on that count.

He rubbed his eyes a little more before looking back at the Ace's door and sighed a little. He couldn't even say how long he'd been waiting already. A while, based on how stiff he felt.

"Yeah, probably." Least someone stabbed him in his sleep. "How are you doing today?" He asked as he stood up and stretched his limbs out.

The magenta couch's entire raison d'etre was to annoy and perturb people who might visit Elisha. He'd had it since he became a Six and they decided the Court Artist needed an office. What they - Tenly administration at the time - thought an artist was going to do with an office was beyond him, but he'd mostly used it for storage. The couch had come with every raise in rank, though and was tucked against the wall in the King's office now, where it was mostly used by him when he was playing chess.

And apparently by Hadyn, Elisha thought as he quietly closed the door and set a file on his desk. When Hadyn didn't immediately wake up, his brows furrowed and he came over, sitting on the coffee table in front of the couch. He reached out and shook Hadyn's shoulder. "Hey," he murmured, "wake up." Then his hand brushed across Hadyn's cheek on the way to his hair, and he frowned a little more.

Too hot, he thought. He must have something.

His script was on the floor, where it had fallen out of his hands and off the couch as he fell asleep. Frowning, though, he stretched his legs and back as he yawned, then coughed a little as Elisha woke him up.

Reaching up he rubbed at his forehead a little, turning to look at Elisha curiously with sleepy eyes.

"What time is it?"

"Late," Elisha returned, glancing out the dark windows. "I was just dropping off a file before going looking for you. You're running a little hot there," he added, softly.

He'd been trying not to mother Hadyn quite so much lately, he thought, but this just had the urge rising up again. "Want to stay in tonight?" He asked. "You look worn down."

"I came by a while ago." After falling asleep in the theatre. He figured he wasn't going to get any work done there. "I don't even know why I thought you'd be here." Except that Elisha had mentioned something about meetings that morning. It stood to reason, at the time, that the man would eventually be back by his office.

Though he'd expected to be awake when Elisha came in.

"I have a head cold," he said, figuring that it would work itself out soon enough, right? Maybe. He sighed a little. "I feel worn down."

Caleb had been spending much more time in Club Castle in recent weeks, all part of his job taking care of patients in the castle as well as his clinic in town. And, of course, the sight of Hadyn in Club Castle was nothing new, either. Hadyn asleep in a chair in the library, however? That wasn't something one usually saw. There was a slight sheen of sweat on his brow, Caleb saw, slowing and frowning at his young patient. The look on his face indicated uneasy sleep, the sweat maybe some sort of illness. Had he been taking the medication as prescribed, and sleeping the way they'd discussed? He shouldn't be dozing in the middle of the day like this.

"Mr. Novak?" No hand on his shoulder just yet. He's waiting to see how deep this sleep is.

He had been doing precisely what the Doctor had instructed him to do, which was much harder than the doctor seemed to give him credit for. Actually sleeping meant much less time for a life outside the theatre. That was vexing. The sound of his name, though, had his brows lift a little, as if he might actually wake up though they just settled back down with a soft sort of groan.

His, for their part, remained soundly shut for the moment.

That frown deepens as Hadyn continues to sleep, and he takes a few steps closer to lay a hand on his shoulder. It can be hard to try and reset one's sleep schedule, especially when one is used to staying up all hours and going forever on very little sleep or food, and Caleb is the first person to truly appreciate that. He was in Hadyn's spot himself, not that long ago.

"Hadyn." A little louder this time, with an accompanying squeeze of his shoulder.

That made him jump a little, the touch on his shoulder. His neck snapped up and groggy eyes flicked first to the hand and then to Caleb's face as his blinked just a little.

"Huh?" He started, before coughing a little and groaning just a bit. God, his head hurt so much. "Sorry, I must have dozed off."
