Oh, it's good to be home. He's reclaimed the armoury from Delilah now that he's done sufficient research into this Arcana nonsense that he never wants to see the library again as long as he lives, and therefore has the time for it. It's been a little bit... rearranged, but he's in the midst of sorting that out right now, putting everything where it ( Read more... )

Vince is leaning in the doorway, smirking just slightly.

"You can only wish for more enemies?" Clearly, that isn't quite the right ending to the sentence, but in the Suit of Spades, it might be the truth nonetheless.

He has to hope Vince isn't one of the ones that's heard about Oliver having to pretend to freak out about a mouse to clear an escape route for Zoe and Andrea. Especially because the only part he'd know is that Oliver freaked out over a mouse. He probably does know; the Cruz family had made a point of spreading the rumour. Fuck his life.

"That seems counter-intuitive," he replies grouchily. "I already have enough enemies to last me a lifetime..." Every Six ever counts.

It is hard to keep such things from Vincent. Very, very hard. It's even harder for him to not joke about it. He had a horrible week after all, though right now, it only shows in the shadows under his eyes and the slight off-ness of his usual tone.

"Especially the tiny ones. They are everywhere."

Oliver groans. "Oh, don't harp on. They're disgusting little beasts. I, for one, am glad the snakes have finally woken up." Ugh, and he has to keep up the act to make the story seem true, too. (Not that it's hard... Oliver's never liked mice much. But shh.)

One thing he's missed about his dear armoury; his personal gin supply. He pulls a glass from the cabinet and raises an eyebrow at Vincent as though inquiring if he'd like one too. He looks run down, and everyone knows that Oliver always has gin. Always.

For some, homemade baked goods are probably the best way of apologizing. People not Spades, though, and also she doesn't think she can bake in the kitchen yet without getting Suspicious Looks from Chives, so Oliver gets something he probably appreciates a lot more.

Very expensive gin, set on his desk.

Cupcakes are ephemeral, Zoe. But gin is forever. He looks up, appears mildly surprised for a moment and then finishes sliding the training blades into their rack.

"Thanks. How many parts hush money is this?"

See, she knew she'd made the right decision here, and she leans against the wall out of the way as he watches him reorganize. Delilah had likely taken that project on just to be an irritation, but then Zoe didn't particularly care much for Delilah.

"Oh, Victor told Her Majesty the whole story," she says dryly. There was no avoiding it at that point, even if Victor had asked her opinion first, which he hadn't. "There's nothing left to hush about."

The reorganisation had apparently been a form of revenge for him getting the job that she'd sought. Not that he'd been keen to act as delegate in the first place, but such is life.

He gives her a momentary 'are you serious' look. "Well. Isn't that fantastic." Eh, in a way it is, he supposes. Less of the cloak-and-dagger. It's still quite irritating not to have been consulted. "Thanks for the update. And by the whole story, you mean... the whole story?"
