Out of curiosity- did your paying for cable include internet usage as well as cable television? I only ask because it's not really clear if your roommate gave you permission to use his television in the first place or not. Don't get me wrong, definitely a weirdo that I wouldn't even poke with a meter stick. I was just trying to figure out a motivation to why he would put the television in his bedroom suddenly and still expect you to pay for a cable bill.

He didn't have a computer, so when I got mine, I set up a second Shaw account that I paid all on my own so I could have the Internet.

He definitely did give me permission to use his TV though. It was one of the things he mentioned when I had my first walk through. He said that he had a TV in three rooms and that I was 'perfectly welcome to watch the TV in the living room' whenever I wanted. He was being a dick and (I assume) trying to pull the same power trip on me that he did with his ex-girlfriend. When he took the phone away, he still expected me to pay for half the bill as well.

That was so beautiful it bought a tear to my eye. I wonder too about the legality of it all. What a fucking joke. I remember our roomate would lock the upstairs bathroom doors so we could never use them.

You know as shitty as that time was, now you have a fantastic story you can share with people and I'd like to share with others as well. Fucking fantastic!
